Emile De Visscher, PhD
Emile De Visscher ist Designer, Ingenieur und Materialwissenschaftler. Er studierte Maschinenbau an der Université de Technologie de Compiègne (FR, 2009) und Design am Royal College of Art (UK, 2012).
2018 promovierte er im Rahmen des SACRe Doktorandenprogramms an der Paris Science et Lettres und der École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. Unter dem Titel »Technophanic Manufactures« erforschte seine praxisorientierte Doktorarbeit die Voraussetzungen einer öffentlichen und gemeinsamen Nutzbarmachung innovativer Herstellungsverfahren.
Emiles Arbeit konzentriert sich auf die Entwicklung von Kleinserienwerkzeugen. Zu seinen Projekten gehören eine neue Recyclingmaschine für Thermoplast (»Polyfloss« zusammen mit C. Machet, A. Gaulard und N. Paget) oder ein Verfahren zur Umwandlung von Papier und Karton in Stein (»Petrification«). Seit 2015 leitet er zudem die von ihm iniziierte unabhängige Designpublikation Obliquite.
Als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter bei »Matters of Activity« wird Emile neue Produktionsverfahren im Bereich der Biomaterialien entwickeln.
