Kay Usenbinz
Studied Geosciences at Freie Universität. 1999 awarded the Albrecht Wilke Prize of the Association of Friends of Mineralogy and Geology (VFMG). Afterwards he studied Art & Visual History and History at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (B.A.) and Art & Visual History at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin ( (M.A.). Master thesis in August 2018 entitled »Giorgio Vasari and the Portrait. A confrontational investigation in the field of tension between his vite, other written estates, and his own portraits.«
Since September 2018, Research Assistant to Prof. Dr. Horst Bredekamp and PhD at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin with the working title »Berolinum; Berlin becomes the light of the world. Johann Arnold Nering (1659-1695). Master Builder and Pioneer of Prussia's Italian Modernism.«
The research focus is on the autonomous power of the image in the broadest conceivable sense, whereby the term »images« includes all material artifacts that exhibit a minimum of human processing. Furthermore, the object of research is architecture and urban planning in Europe from the 17th to the 19th century.
