Stefanie Meisgeier
Stefanie holds a B.A. in Art and Visual History (major) and Cultural Studies and European Ethnology from Friedrich Schiller University Jena and recieved her M.A. in Art and Visual History from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. In the course of her studies she spent time in Leiden, Florence and Venice.
Since 2017 she is PhD Candidate at HU's Institute for Art and Visual History under the supervision of Horst Bredekamp. 2018 she was Visiting Researcher at Princeton University. 2019 the Friedrich Ebert Foundation awarded her a PhD scholarship.
In her research, Stefanie explores questions of form and function of active matter and material culture with particular focus on historical and political aspects. She examines the role medieval reliquary head busts play for the representation of heads in contemporary art.
At the Cluster of Excellence, Stefanie was a Research Assistant to Horst Bredekamp from January 2019 to May 2021. Before joining »Matters of Activity« she recieved, inter alia, a PhD scholarship from the previous Cluster »Image Knowlegde Gestaltung« and held various positions at the Institute for Art and Visual History (HU Berlin).
