Weaving in Different Disciplines
with Prof. Lynette Cegelski
On August 30th at 3 p.m. the Weavers started tehir series of lectures on the topic »Weaving in different disciplines». We are very happy that on this first event our cooperation partner Lynette Cegelski from Stanford University was presenting and discussing her research with us. The title of her presentation was »Structure and properties of the polymer fibers of the biofilm matrix of E. coli«.
Lynette Cegelski is a professor for biochemistry and chemistry at Stanford University. Her research fields include the structure of large macromolecular complexes of the bacterial biofilm matrix, which she investigates using solid state NMR and other complex, extremely machine-intensive methods. These investigations are essential for the field of biofilms in Weaving, in order to understand how the different fibers interact at the nano level and form composite materials.
