Nelli Singer

Nelli Singer is a design researcher with a focus on active materials research. She gained a Master of Arts in Textile and Surface Design at the Weissensee School of Art in Berlin in 2020. She was awarded the Materialica Award and the »ein&zwanzig« Design Newcomer Award for her thesis in 2021; since then she has been part of »Matters of Activity«.
She focuses her work on exploring active materials that respond independently to environmental conditions such as humidity. She is interested in innovative material structures and the experimental process of designing them. Her creative work is characterized by an interdisciplinary approach that incorporates design, art, architecture, science and technology
Her work has been shown at Humboldt Forum under the heading »Active Curtain« and the exhibition Stretching Materialities at Tieranatomisches Theater, Berlin.
