Lennart Eigen

Lennart Eigen received his bachelor’s degree in biology and his master’s degree in organismal biology, biodiversity, and evolution from the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. He is currently pursuing his doctoral studies at Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience Berlin, exploring novel imaging techniques and 3D digital visualization in neuroscience.
With a background in functional morphology, he investigates the form-function relationship and architecture of biological systems and how to use them for engineered structures and synthetic materials. In the project Material Form Function, he collaborates with designers, engineers, and other biologists to understand the principles of natural tessellations, which can be found in many species of plants, fungi, and animals.
