Dr. Friedrich von Bose

Friedrich von Bose studied Cultural Anthropology in Berlin and Berkeley and, since 2017, is Curator for the Humboldt Laboratory, Humboldt University’s interdisciplinary exhibition space in the Humboldt Forum. The relationship between research and display and processes of planning and design are the prime focuses of his curatorial practice. They have also informed many of his previous projects, amongst them his PhD dissertation (2014), for which he undertook a five-year ethnographic study of the planning process of the Humboldt Forum (Das Humboldt-Forum. Eine Ethnografie seiner Planung, Kadmos 2016).
He has (co-)curated and served as advisor for exhibitions since 2006 (e.g. Stiftung Stadtmuseum Berlin, Humboldt Lab Dahlem). From 2009–2015 he was lecturer and research associate at HU’s Institute for European Ethnology, where he co-founded the Berlin ›Museumslabor‹.
He was subsequently a member of the planning staff of the City Museum of Stuttgart (2015/16) and Senior Consultant at a PR- and communications firm in Basel/Switzerland. Since being back at HU he is Associate Member at the Centre for the Anthropological Research on Museums and Heritage (CARMAH).
