Nikolai Rosenthal

Nikolai earned his M. Sc. in Medical Engineering at the University of Stuttgart in collaboration with the DITF and MPIKG with a thesis on properties and ultrastructure of the insect cuticle and applications in biomimetic medical devices.

Meanwhile he learned at the MSC of the NEU Boston, the MPIPZ and MPIIS. Before joining the Cluster Nikolai worked as a scientist at the DITF on textile sensors & actors, textile solutions in the context of architecture, construction and urban consolidation.

The focus of his PhD is the multi-scale characterization of fiber systems and -structures in nature and their geometric-constructive and design transfer into constructions for spatial-architectural applications.
