Kaja Ninnis

Kaja Ninnis is a research associate at the Institute for Cultural History and Theory at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and part of the Cluster project Material Form Function. As an art and design historian, her research is located at the intersection between design history, ecology and materials. In her PhD project Kaja investigates ecocritical material histories in the context of the British Arts and Crafts movement.
Together with Ursula Ströbele, she founded the working group Art | Material | Ecology in 2023, which explores material flows and infrastructures connected with art materials. Also, since 2023, together with Viktoria Lea Heinrich, she organizes the »Kolloquium Designgeschichte« (Design History), a forum for exchange between doctoral students in the field of design history. In 2021, together with Claudia Banz and Barbara Lersch she co-curated the exhibition Design Lab #8 Material Loops: Paths to a Circular Future.
