Governing through Design
Co-Director Prof. Dr. Claudia Mareis raises Funds through Sinergia Project Funding
The Swiss National Science Foundation finances interdisciplinary research with its Sinergia program. 23 new projects involving 79 researchers received a grant. The success rate for this call was 40%.
One example of interdisciplinarity is a project by the University of Art and Design FHNW, the University of Basel and Concordia University in Montreal, in which Cluster Co-Director Claudia Mareis is playing a key role. »Governing through design« links perspectives and methods of design studies, urban studies, media studies, anthropology, sociology, political science, and science & technology studies to develop a comprehensive understanding of how politics and design are interrelated today. The project, therefore, intervenes in contemporary debates about opportunities to act on the effects of the ›anthropocene‹ and seeks to confront global solutions with in-depth studies of local projects and processes.
