Théories du Design, une Introduction
A New Publication by Claudia Mareis Translated by Maxime Le Calvé
We are pleased to announce the publication of the book »Théories du Design, une Introduction« by Cluster Co-Director Claudia Mareis at the prestigious »Presses du Réel«. Translated from German into French by anthropologist and Cluster member Maxime Le Calvé, this text is an updated edition of »Theorien des Designs zur Einführung« (Junius Verlag, 2014).
The book includes a foreword by Claire Brunet and Emanuele Quinz and an afterword by Guy Julier. The Design/Théories series, co-edited by Associate Member Emanuele Quinz, presents in French fundamental works, both historical and contemporary, in the field of design theory. Each volume takes the form of a critical edition, offering both a historical contextualisation of the work and a perspective on the issues at stake in design and contemporary society. Claudia Mareis introduces the most important design theories of the 20th century and outlines approaches and models that postulate a broader concept of design in relation to the human and technical sciences and to the challenges of a changing world.
