Coding IxD (Informatik x Design)
From the Practice of Interdisciplinary Education
By transferring the vision of the Cluster of Excellence »Matters of Activity« into the educational context, the interdisciplinary course »Coding IxD« (Informatik x Design) emerged as a cooperation between the Human-Centered Computing Research Group led by Claudia Müller-Birn (Freie Universität Berlin) and the Embodied Interaction Group led by Carola Zwick and Thomas Ness (and formely Judith Glaser) (weißensee school of art and design berlin).
Within a specific design context, students of computer science and product design explore in the course the various means of designing neo-analog products, i.e., products that represent a synthesis of the digital and the material in form and function.
