Prof. Dr. Jörg Petruschat
Jörg Petruschat has been Professor for Theory and History of Design at weißensee school of art and deisgn berlin since 2014. His research topics are the ability to design and its cognitive dimensions, functions of form in evolution, Gestaltung, education, performative design research.
Petruschat studied philosophical aesthetics, cultural sciences, history of art, design and urbanism. After he received his doctorate on the functionalism of shaker communities in 1984, he was research assistant at the Institute for Aesthetics of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin with Günter Mayer and Friedrich Kittler from 1986 to 1998. 1991 to 2008 he has been Chief Editor of the magazine »Form+Zweck. Zeitschrift für Gestaltung«, since 2019 head of publishing.
From 1998 to 2014 he held the Professorship for Theory of Culture and Civilization and also for History of Gestaltung in Dresden.
