Save the Date for »Paar«
Premiere of the VR Dance Film on June 9th
Sneak Peek! One of our current projects in production is »Paar« - a VR dance filmed in the Tieranatomisches Theater (TA T, Veterinary Anatomy Theater) at Berlin Charité and premiering later this year 2022, directed by Carly Lave.
»Paar« is a VR dance film split between a physical world and a virtual world, using 360° video together with motion capture technology, to dance the theater to life in VR. The virtual environment of the Tieranatomisches Theater is created from the 3D photorealistic rendering of the theater, making for 180° of the virtual world and 180° of the physical world. In Paar, the dancers’ movements are tracked via motion capture technology. This recorded movement data will be mapped into the virtual environment of the TA T through avatars. Save the date for its premiere on June 9th!
Directed and choreographed by Carly Lave, and set to an ambient sonic landscape by the artist Arushi Jain, audience members are taken through a seven minute immersive experience where they get to stand, bear witness and interact with the dancers’ journey through the physical and virtual theater. The choreography plays with the circularity of the theater, using spirals and revolutions around the space, and within the dancers own bodies.
The virtual environment of the TAT is created from the 3D photorealistic rendering of the theater, making for 180° of virtual world and 180° of physical world. In Paar, the dancers’ movement is tracked via motion capture technology. This recorded movement data will be mapped into the virtual environment of the TAT through avatars. Together the project integrates cutting-edge technology to devise a new format to experience performance across physical and virtual spaces.
»Paar« is supported through Gamelab Berlin, »Matters of Activity« and the Tiernanatomisches Theater.
