MoA Director Claudia Mareis Guest Member in Jury for TaDA Artist in Residence Program
In 2021, MoA Director Claudia Mareis was a guest member of the jury for the Artist in Residence program of the Textile and Design Alliance TaDA. The innovative program is aimed at practitioners in the fields of visual art, design, architecture, literature, performing arts, or on transdisciplinary projects with a strong interest in textile production and its context. It is run by the cantons of St.Gallen, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, and Thurgau and offers a unique opportunity to work together with renowned textile companies in Eastern Switzerland.
Program
TaDA – Textile and Design Alliance is a cultural promotion program. Its goal is to promote artistic dialogue with the eastern Swiss textile and design culture and thus strengthen the regional identity. A connection to practice and the textile companies established in the region is a central component of the program. Each year, TaDA offers a work stay in Switzerland to six to eight national and international personalities. The residents develop innovative projects in the fields of art, design, architecture, literature, the performing arts, or in transdisciplinary contexts. As program partners, certain textile and design companies in Eastern Switzerland make their know-how and technology available to the artists, thus giving the residents an opportunity to do practical and artistic work and carry out applied research. For their part, the partners benefit from the creative exchange with the art practitioners invited. On the occasion of the annual event »TaDA Spinnerei«, the work results are presented to the public and discussed.
