Weaving Scales
Iva Rešetar and Bastian Beyer Give A Workshop With COOP Design Research Students and Present Outcomes at the Bauhaus Study Rooms
We are happy to share that Cluster members Iva Rešetar and Bastian Beyer will hold a workshop for students of the Master program COOP Design Research and present the outcomes at this year's edition of the Bauhaus Study Rooms at the Bauhaus Museum Dessau from October 24th to 25th 2025.
Building on the Co-Weaving Biofilms project, which is currently on display in the »Bauhaus Ecologies« exhibition at the Bauhaus Museum, this workshop delves into the question of scales. It invites participants to trace the histories and ecologies of cellulosic materials through the collection of the Industry and Film Museum in Wolfen, a former factory complex known for its pioneering large-scale production, and its proximity to the historical Bauhaus. Through a site-specific inquiry, we aim to map scales of materials as deeply relational, considering their extraction and fabrication, and their afterlife across domestic, infrastructural, and environmental contexts. Our focus is on what is not immediately visible: what slips away, causes friction, or coexists within the everyday objects found in the museum’s collection. As an outcome, we propose a collective, incomplete map as a framework that interweaves the multiple threads of these investigations.
This year’s Bauhaus Study Rooms 2025 are dedicated to environmental thinking in design. Together with partners, the Academy of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation invites participants to discuss the significance of knowledge about nature and the awareness of its destruction for design practices. Lectures, presentations, workshops and discussions will introduce design practices and concepts that explore ways towards a more environmentally just future.
