Holitopia 2024
Several MoA Members Contribute to the Festival on Future Design
Witness future design and art coming together to turn visions into reality: futures you can see and touch! MoA members Christian Stein, Rasa Weber, Natalija Miodragović, Dimitra Almpani-Lekka, Antje Nestler and Kristin Werner contribute to this year's Holitopia Festival with a keynote, panel, discussion and speculative workshop at Campus Wilhelminenhof of HTW Berlin. Don't miss your chance for a reduced ticket for the conference day. But there are also lots of free activities, such as the exhibiton »Above the Sea of Air« with works from the Cluster.
Conference Day with Contributions from Cluster Members on 20 September
Panel Talk by Christian Stein
on the social significance of games, games for education and research, gamification and serious games as well as the mindset of solving problems with and through games
Keynote by Rasa Weber
»Sympoïetic Design - Tangible Invitations for Humans, Animals, Microbes, Animate and Inanimate Matter in the Ocean«
Speculative Workshop by Antje Nestler and Kristin Werner with Natalija Miodragović and Dimitra Almpani-Lekka
»Growing Architecture - Co-Designing with Fungi«
In this workshop, we dive into the interconnected world of fungi and their mycelium together with researchers and architects Dimitra Almpani-Lekka and Natalija Miodragović from Matters of Activity. In their research they experiment with fungal material systems in the architectural context, supported by the Biomaterials Lab of the Applied and Molecular Microbiology department of TU Berlin.
We will explore the properties and behaviors of mycelium in nature and architecture and speculate about possible futures: Could the buildings of tomorrow be grown in collaboration with plants and fungi? Can fungi help us build life-supporting networks in the cities to maintain natural resources and the local biodiversity? How can co-designing and co-habiting with a living organism transform our experience of future architecture and our relationships with other species? The experienced speculation team of CollActive Materials, Antje Nestler and Kristin Werner, will guide you – no previous knowledge or special skills are required!
The conference day is accompanied by the exhibition »Above the Sea of Air«, where Christian Stein, Rasa Weber, Natalija Miodragović and Dimitra Almpani-Lekka will exhibit their projects Myko.Plektonik: Scaffold for Fungal Growth; SymbiOcean; Stretching into Virtuality and beyond.
Here's your chance to get 30% off your ticket (or 50% if you are a Cluster member) – First come, first served! Send an email to moa.public.relations [at] hu-berlin.de to receive one of the limited vouchers to access the conference for 30% (or 50%) off!
