Frank Bauer
In seiner Arbeit untersucht Frank Bauer Ontologien und Praktiken experimenteller Entwurfs- und Fabrikationsmethoden. Seine laufende Dissertation entwickelt operative, instrumentelle und materielle Erweiterungen digitaler Modellierungs- und Fabrikationsverfahren im Bereich computergestützter Kunstproduktion. Ausgehend von Konzepten der Affordanz, Persistenz und Aktivität gilt sein Interesse deren interdisziplinärer Erweiterung und baupraktischer Anwendung.
Er absolvierte ein Studium der Architektur an der UdK Berlin mit Aufenthalt an UIC/IIT Chicago sowie kunst-/kulturgeschichtliche und sozialwissenschaftliche Magisterstudien an der ALU Freiburg, FU/TU Berlin und JGU Mainz. Nach Tätigkeiten für die Fondation Vasarely und KWY Lissabon erfolgte die Gründung des Büro Vogel Bauer, wo er in der Visualisierung, Planung und Datenmodellierung von Werkprozessen zeitgenössischer Kunstproduktion arbeitet.
Seine Lehrtätigkeit ist eingebettet im B.A./M.A. Architekturstudiengang der UdK, dem forschungsbasierten M.A. Design & Computation (UdK/TUB) sowie dem Design for Manufacture MArch der Bartlett School of Architecture (UCL) – im Versuch die Agenda von »Matters of Activity« nach Außen und den Diskurs von den Möglichkeits- zu den Bedingungsräumen von Technologie zu wenden.
