Prof. Dr. Myfanwy Evans

Myfanwy Evans ist Mathematikerin und Physikerin, die sich mit der Rolle von Geometrie und Topologie in weichen Materialien beschäftigt. Sie ist Professorin für »Applied Geometry and Topology« am Institut für Mathematik der Universität Potsdam.
Sie studierte Mathematik und promovierte an der Australian National University. Ihre Dissertation mit dem Titel »Three-dimensional entanglement: knots, knits and nets« beschäftigte sich mit dem Einsatz hyperbolischer Geometrie bei der Konstruktion und Charakterisierung verschränkter Netzwerke und filamentöser Strukturen. Von 2015 bis 2020 leitete sie eine Emmy Noether-Forschungsgruppe an der TU Berlin zum Thema »Geometry and Topology of Entangled Soft Matter« (Geometrie und Topologie von verflochtener weicher Materie).
Im Rahmen von »Matters of Activity« liegt ihr Interesse im Aufbau interdisziplinärer Verbindungen zur Mathematik, insbesondere rund um das Thema der Aktivität durch dreidimensionale geometrische Motive.
